The WRC awarded an employee €14,121 after finding he was unfairly dismissed without due process. Adjudication Officer Gaye Cunningham dated the decision 27 February 2024.
The employee said he was summarily dismissed after an accusation of breaching confidentiality, without warning or an opportunity to respond. The company did not defend the complaint, although its liquidator attended the hearing. The WRC accepted the employee’s uncontested evidence that he was dismissed after nine and a half years’ service without due process. The award included €4,869 in wages due at the end of employment. The officer noted that he found new work about two weeks after his dismissal.
