WRC rejects former Mullingar Pharmacy worker’s unfair dismissal complaint

The Workplace Relations Commission found Brenda Cox’s unfair dismissal complaint against Osfield Limited trading as Mullingar Pharmacy was not well founded. The decision was dated 22 March 2024. Cox resigned in August 2022 and referred her complaint about eight months later. She alleged adverse treatment and sought an extension to the time limit; the company denied her allegations and argued the complaint was out of time. The adjudication officer found no reasonable cause to extend the deadline. The decision says the complaint was not well founded because no employment relationship existed during the period the WRC could consider. The merits were not decided because of the time limit.
