The Workplace Relations Commission awarded Aoife Curran €840 after finding she had not received four weeks’ minimum notice when her employer’s grocery and newsagent business closed. The WRC also confirmed her statutory redundancy-payment entitlement, but the decision stated no amount for it. The decision was dated 2 September 2024. Curran worked for St Johnston Retailers Ltd from March 2016 until it ceased trading in October 2022. She said she had received neither redundancy pay nor notice pay. The respondent did not appear at the hearing. The adjudication officer found both complaints well founded. For minimum notice, the officer found Curran was entitled to four weeks’ pay based on her service and gross weekly pay of €210, and awarded €840. The officer separately found that she qualified for statutory redundancy pay.
