WRC dismisses Cuicui Wang’s unfair-dismissal complaint after hearing absence

The Workplace Relations Commission found Cuicui Wang’s unfair-dismissal complaint against Hillbilly's Takeaway Limited was not well founded after she did not attend the hearing. The WRC decision was dated 10 April 2024. Wang alleged she was unfairly dismissed for exercising rights under the Protected Disclosure Act. The respondent attended with a company director, representative and witness. The adjudication officer said Wang had notice of the hearing and, after a grace period, had not attended or presented evidence in support of her complaint. The merits were not decided because she did not attend.
