The Workplace Relations Commission found that Dean Sherlock’s family-status discrimination, harassment and victimisation complaint against Spar Christchurch could not succeed. The decision was dated 8 March 2024. Sherlock, a food-store manager, alleged that he was denied family-friendly work arrangements, shouted at and treated unfairly because of his family status. He also said his wages were delayed and that he resigned after the treatment. The respondent denied discrimination, harassment and victimisation, and said €250 was missing from the safe after Sherlock lodged cash takings. The adjudicator found Sherlock had not established facts from which family-status discrimination could be inferred, and found no harassment or victimisation. The discrimination complaint could not succeed, and the other complaints were not upheld.
