WRC recommends €500 voucher after pay frequency change

The Workplace Relations Commission recommended a €500 voucher for an employee after the employer changed her pay from fortnightly to monthly and delayed resolving her grievance. The recommendation was dated 23 February 2023. The employee said her contract provided for weekly pay and that the change was imposed without agreement. She also complained that the grievance process had been delayed. The employer said monthly payroll would reduce administration and errors, and that it had consulted staff and offered support. The WRC said moving to monthly pay could be difficult for employees and that the delay compounded the employee’s sense that the change was unilateral. It recommended the voucher as compensation.
