The Workplace Relations Commission recommended that an employer give a worker a €500 voucher after changing his pay from fortnightly to monthly and delaying the grievance process. The recommendation was dated 23 February 2023. The worker argued that weekly pay was part of his contract and that the change was made without agreement. The employer said monthly payroll would reduce administration and errors, and that it had consulted employees and offered support. The WRC said monthly pay could be challenging for employees and found that the grievance delay compounded the worker’s sense that the change was imposed unilaterally. It recommended the voucher as compensation.
