The Workplace Relations Commission recommended that an employer give an employee a €500 voucher after changing her pay from fortnightly to monthly and delaying the grievance process. The recommendation was dated 23 February 2023. The employee said her contract provided for weekly pay and that the change was imposed without agreement. She also complained about delays in handling the grievance. The employer said monthly payroll would reduce administration and errors, and that it had consulted staff and offered support. The WRC said moving to monthly pay could be difficult for employees and that the grievance delay compounded the employee’s sense that the change was imposed unilaterally. It recommended the voucher as compensation.
