WRC finds Thomas Reaney was not unfairly dismissed

The Workplace Relations Commission found that Thomas Reaney was not unfairly dismissed by Starrus Eco Holdings Limited, trading as Panda Waste Management Solutions. Adjudication Officer Thomas O’Driscoll’s decision was dated 25 April 2025. Reaney challenged his dismissal for alleged aggressive behaviour and assault of a site manager, denied assault and argued the process was flawed. The officer found the procedural shortcomings did not undermine fairness and that the employer reasonably considered his conduct gross misconduct. The WRC assessed whether the dismissal was reasonable and proportionate; it did not determine whether Reaney was guilty of the allegations.
