The Workplace Relations Commission found that Paul O'Sullivan was not discriminated against on age or gender grounds in a recruitment process for an assistant lecturer post at Munster Technological University Kerry. The decision was dated 10 August 2023.

O'Sullivan applied for an Assistant Lecturer in Pharmacy position and questioned the successful candidate’s qualifications and the interview process. The university said the selected candidate scored higher under the selection criteria and denied that age or gender influenced its decision.

The WRC found O'Sullivan had not established a case of gender discrimination and that there was no evidence establishing age discrimination. It also found that he had not demonstrated superior qualifications and experience to the successful candidate.
