The Workplace Relations Commission ordered Suirsafe Technologies Limited to pay employee Barbara Remic €15,000 for wages owed for October and November 2022. In two related complaints, it ordered a further €15,000 for December 2022 and January 2023, and €15,000 for February and March 2023. The decision was dated 1 December 2023.
Remic, the company’s Head of Products and Marketing, said wages had gone unpaid after her monthly salary was reduced by agreement to €7,500 gross in May 2022. The company did not attend the hearings or file a response. The officer relied on Remic’s uncontested evidence, including emails in which a company representative acknowledged the salary was unpaid.
Each of the three wage complaints was partly well founded. The orders cover the six months specified in the decisions; other claimed wage months had been dealt with in another WRC case. Annual leave claims were addressed separately because Remic remained employed when those complaints were referred. The WRC decided the wage complaints on their merits despite the company’s non-attendance.
