The Workplace Relations Commission found it had no jurisdiction over two of Caroline Walsh’s complaints against An Garda Siochana and dismissed a third as misconceived. The WRC decision was dated 25 January 2024. Walsh said she was denied subsistence payments after driving home from training courses, did not receive revised written terms after moving roles, and was refused a secondment. The respondent said overnight accommodation was available during training and attendees staying there could claim €14.01 for an evening meal. The officer found the latest alleged discrimination occurred on 27 April 2022 and there was no reasonable cause for referring that complaint outside the six-month time limit. The written-terms complaint related to a role change in 2014 and was also referred too late. The third complaint, about the refused secondment, was dismissed because the officer found no change to Walsh’s written terms in connection with it. The merits of the two complaints outside the WRC’s jurisdiction were not decided.
