The Workplace Relations Commission found that Nadjima Ghazouna Adda had not established that Word Perfect Translation Services Limited discriminated against her on grounds of race or religion, or dismissed her for discriminatory reasons. The decision was dated 25 January 2024.

Adda alleged that a manager made racist and anti-Muslim remarks and that her dismissal was discriminatory. The company denied discrimination and said she was dismissed during probation because of performance concerns in her office role.

The adjudication officer said Adda’s evidence was unreliable and unpersuasive, noting that she could not recall the specific incidents described in her complaint form at the hearing. The officer also found that she had not provided evidence of a comparator or otherwise shown that she was treated less favourably because of her race or religion.

The discrimination complaint was found not well founded. A separate Payment of Wages Act complaint was withdrawn at the hearing.
