Rentokil worker’s discrimination complaints over pay rise fail

The Workplace Relations Commission dismissed Przemyslaw Ciesielski’s complaints of family status and age discrimination against Rentokil Initial over a denied salary increase. The decision was dated 28 February 2024. Ciesielski said he was denied a 3% increase in July 2022 after failing to submit a completed GDPR and Data Privacy course. Rentokil Initial said completing required courses was a condition of the increase, and he had not completed one. The adjudication officer found Ciesielski had not identified a comparable worker of a different family status or age who received the increase despite not completing the course. The evidence indicated that course completion, rather than family status or age, determined who received the increase.
