WRC finds Travelling Community member’s complaint against government department not well founded

The Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) found that a Travelling Community member’s complaint against A Government Department was not well founded, in a decision dated 24 April 2024. The complainant alleged that the department failed to administer benefits because of their membership of the Travelling Community. The WRC amended the respondent from an individual official to the department, finding the alleged conduct arose through the official’s employment. The WRC refused an adjournment and found that sworn evidence was needed to establish facts capable of shifting the burden of proof. Without that evidence, it found no prohibited conduct.
