The Workplace Relations Commission has allowed Amanda Ball’s equal-pay discrimination complaint against Peninsula Business Services (Ireland) Ltd to proceed to a full hearing. In a decision dated 31 March 2025, the WRC found an arguable case concerning sales leads, commission and variable pay, but made no final finding of discrimination and awarded no compensation.
Ball alleged that a male colleague received better sales leads and more opportunities to earn commission. She relied on lead allocations and sales and remuneration data. The company disputed the claim, arguing that differences in sales opportunities did not by themselves connect any adverse treatment to gender. The WRC said the evidence was sufficient for the complaint to be heard; the claim may still fail or be rebutted at that hearing.
