WRC dismisses religious discrimination complaint against ESB as misconceived

The Workplace Relations Commission dismissed Leon O'Connor’s religious discrimination complaint against Electricity Supply Board ESB as misconceived. The decision, dated 27 November 2023, said the complaint narrative alleged discrimination by the Irish Government and unspecified entities, not the named respondent. The merits were not decided. O'Connor had brought the complaint under the Employment Equality Acts. The WRC said it was misconceived and dismissed it under section 77A(1), which allows a claim to be dismissed on that basis.
