WRC dismisses Mahmoud Youssef’s unpaid wages complaint against Bpi-Unitek Ireland Limited

The Workplace Relations Commission dismissed Mahmoud Youssef’s complaint that Bpi-Unitek Ireland Limited had failed to pay him for work. The decision, dated 12 October 2023, found that Youssef was engaged as a consultant contractor, not an employee covered by the Payment of Wages Act. Youssef said he had worked for the company and had not been paid. The company did not attend the hearing. The adjudication officer considered Youssef’s contractor agreement and his evidence about the arrangement, and found there was no breach of the Act.
