The Workplace Relations Commission ordered Phi Consultant Engineering Limited to pay Brendan Sweeney €4,693.73 for unpaid wages, in a decision dated 29 November 2023. Sweeney said he was owed wages from late June to mid-September 2022. The WRC found the wages claim partly well founded and rejected Sweeney’s claim for a €3,000 bonus. It said there was no written agreement or contract setting out the criteria for earning the bonus. The respondent did not attend the hearing, while Sweeney gave evidence and provided payslips and other documents supporting his wages claim.
