The Workplace Relations Commission awarded former managing director Donal O'Meacair €78,000 for unfair dismissal in a decision dated 14 May 2024. The WRC also awarded him €1,000 for a minimum notice breach, €4,000 gross in unpaid wages and €3,000 gross for untaken annual leave.

O'Meacair had worked for Reynolds And Roche Limited t/a Zero One Hair Salon. He said he had not been paid for four weeks before his dismissal, had not received statutory notice and was owed pay for 15 days of accrued leave. The company did not contest the complaints or call witnesses.

The WRC found he was unfairly dismissed as the Covid pandemic began affecting the jobs market. It said he had caring responsibilities but should have made a greater effort to find other work, a factor it considered when assessing his loss.
