The Workplace Relations Commission ordered Derby Transport Limited to pay driver Alexandru Sirbu €834 net after finding that it had unlawfully deducted wages. The WRC decision, dated 23 November 2023, also records that Sirbu withdrew a separate equality complaint. Sirbu said the company changed him from hourly pay to shift pay without his agreement and that he was underpaid for three weeks. The company said it had always paid him by shift, at €150 net per day, with extra pay for some overtime. The adjudicator found the change was unilateral and the wages paid were below what was due. The company had provided no working-time records, payslips or other documents to support its account.
