Ei Electronics wins disability discrimination complaint over dismissal

The Workplace Relations Commission found Patrick Mcelhinney’s disability discrimination complaint against Ei Electronics was not well founded. The decision was dated 13 April 2023. Mcelhinney, a Production Operator, alleged he was discriminated against when the company dismissed him. Ei Electronics said the dismissal related to his conduct and performance. The adjudication officer found the company knew of his Crohn’s disease but concluded he was not treated less favourably because of his disability, noting that other employees had also been dismissed for a range of reasons.
