The Workplace Relations Commission found Dayle McNulty Gill’s family status discrimination complaint against Cineworld was not well founded, deciding that having a cousin who worked as a team leader did not fall within the legal definition of family status. The WRC decision, dated 5 January 2023, concerned McNulty Gill’s claim that he was refused promotion to team leader because his cousin already held that role. Cineworld argued that a cousin relationship was outside the statutory family status ground.
