WRC awards €400 and €340 over Sunday work and annual leave

The Workplace Relations Commission awarded Diego Dell´ Aquila €400 for Sunday work and €340 for untaken annual leave when his employment ended. Three other complaints were not well founded. In a decision dated 24 March 2023, the WRC found that Sunday was a normal working day and that the employer had to ensure he received compensation under the Organisation of Working Time Act. It also accepted that €340 was owed for 4.25 days of annual leave. The WRC found an earlier annual-leave complaint was brought outside the time limit and was not well founded; the merits were not decided. Complaints about public-holiday entitlement and payment in lieu of notice were also not well founded. The adjudicator said Dell´ Aquila had resigned, so he was not entitled to notice pay.
