The WRC found a mother’s disability discrimination complaint against a civil registration office was not well founded. The decision, dated 30 August 2023, concerned a mask request during a visit to register her daughter’s birth.
The officer found that the complainant had not identified a disability that prevented her from wearing a mask. The office required masks as a safety measure during the pandemic and accommodated the family by providing the service outside in their car.
