The WRC recommended that a food company offer a worker a permanent early morning shift from 7 November 2022 and pay €500 compensation. The recommendation was dated 18 October 2022. The worker said another employee was given preference for early shifts despite not previously being a flexi operator. The company said the other flexi operator had greater service and exceptional personal circumstances supported the temporary arrangement. The officer found the worker was treated somewhat unfairly during the Covid period, while recognising those exceptional circumstances.
