The Workplace Relations Commission found Martin Bowling was unfairly dismissed by Indaver Ireland Limited and awarded him €3,000 compensation. The decision was dated 12 October 2023. Bowling said the redundancy was a sham and that his coordinator role and its work remained substantially the same. Indaver said its business was shifting towards Leinster and it no longer needed a full-time coordinator in Connacht. The adjudication officer found the process was designed to target Bowling and that no genuine consultation took place. In setting compensation, the officer considered Bowling’s lack of meaningful engagement and noted that he found similar-salary work by 14 February 2022.
