WRC awards Louise Ryan €9,223.56 over unauthorised pay cut

The Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) directed Xs Direct Insurance Brokers Limited to pay Louise Ryan €9,223.56, less statutory deductions, after finding an unauthorised deduction from her wages. The decision was dated 8 March 2023. Ryan complained that a 15% pay cut was imposed without her agreement. The WRC found that the reduction was made unilaterally and that the wages paid were less than she was contractually owed. The amount covered six months, from 22 July 2021 to 21 January 2022. The respondent and receiver did not attend the hearing; the adjudicator considered Ryan’s payslips and other evidence.
