The Workplace Relations Commission (WRC), in a decision dated 12 December 2023, found Amanda Craddock’s unfair dismissal and redundancy complaints against the Department of the Environment Climate and Communications not well founded. The WRC said her employment ended by redundancy, not dismissal, and that the department was not her employer. Craddock worked as a legal secretary for the Mahon Tribunal and was paid by employment agency Headhunt International. She argued the agency should be treated as her employer and be responsible for redundancy entitlements. The department said it had no employment relationship with her and agreed that the agency, which paid her wages, was responsible for any statutory redundancy payment.
WRC rejects Amanda Craddock’s unfair dismissal and redundancy complaints against department
