Rentokil worker’s constructive dismissal complaint fails

The Workplace Relations Commission found Greg Clarke’s constructive dismissal complaint against Rentokil Initial Limited was not well founded in a decision dated 25 April 2023. Clarke said problems at work, including poor communication, staffing concerns and pressure over overtime, left him with no alternative but to resign. Rentokil denied that its conduct justified his resignation and said he had not used its grievance procedure. The adjudication officer found no fundamental breach of Clarke’s employment contract and concluded the company’s conduct was not unreasonable enough to justify his resignation. The complaint failed.
