WRC grants Julita Jakubowska statutory redundancy entitlement

The Workplace Relations Commission found Julita Jakubowska entitled to a statutory redundancy lump sum from Millconan Limited in a decision dated 14 February 2023. The entitlement is based on a gross weekly wage of €312 and employment from 1 July 2013 to 4 October 2021, with a non-reckonable break from 15 March 2020 to 4 October 2021. Jakubowska told the WRC that the café closed during the pandemic and she was laid off until October 2021. She said she submitted a redundancy form but received no reply. Millconan did not attend the hearing, and the adjudication officer was satisfied it had received adequate notice. Payment is conditional on her having been in insurable employment during the relevant period; any entitlement relating to the lay-off period may be pursued separately.
