The Workplace Relations Commission ordered Sherborough Enterprises Ltd. to pay Ivana Cepo €12,500 compensation after upholding her pregnancy discrimination complaint. The decision was dated 30 January 2023.

Cepo worked as a property administrator from September 2019 until July 2021, earning €25,000 a year. She said she faced adverse treatment after telling the company she was pregnant and was dismissed following probation reviews. The company said her probation had been extended because of performance concerns and that the dismissal followed reviews; it denied discrimination.

The adjudicator reviewed Cepo’s probation ratings and noted that her first review led to an extension of her probation. The parties gave conflicting accounts of an alleged €4,000 settlement offer. On the balance of probabilities, the WRC found the discrimination complaint well founded and ordered the company to pay compensation for the effects of discrimination within 42 days of the decision.
