The Workplace Relations Commission found Diarmuid Corry’s Payment of Wages complaint against South Dublin County Council not well founded. The decision was dated 6 March 2024. Corry, a Supervising Water and Drainage Inspector, said overtime rates had been reduced retrospectively, some overtime was unpaid and lunch-break deductions were wrong. The council said overtime had to be authorised and accepted that it had made an incorrect lunch-break deduction. The WRC found no unlawful deductions during the period it could consider and concluded that Corry had been paid the wages properly due to him.
