The Workplace Relations Commission awarded Melissa Blunnie €10,000 after finding that TTM Healthcare Ltd. discriminated against her on the family-status ground in a promotion review. The decision, dated 27 June 2023, also ordered the company to review its promotion and performance evaluation process for transparency and consistency.
Blunnie, who remained employed by TTM, said she was treated less favourably when a colleague received a title change and salary increase. TTM denied that there had been a promotion opportunity, saying the colleague’s title and pay reflected progress in her existing role.
The WRC found that Blunnie’s review offered her three different roles with different duties and performance measures, while her colleague had received an individual progress review. It found Blunnie was treated less favourably in relation to promotion. Her separate claim of indirect family-status discrimination was not established.
