WRC rejects tenant’s discrimination complaint against Ires Fund Management

The Workplace Relations Commission found Jelena Lune’s complaint against her landlord, Ires Fund Management Ltd, not well founded. The decision was dated 26 August 2022. Lune alleged discrimination on family status and housing assistance grounds over a proposed lease in her sole name and her Housing Assistance Payment arrangements. The landlord said it needed documents, a deposit and the rent arrears to be addressed before it could process a new lease. On family status, the officer found no evidence that Lune had been treated less favourably than someone with a different family status. On housing assistance, the officer found she had not established a prima facie case of discrimination.
