The Workplace Relations Commission rejected a woman’s disability discrimination complaint against a shop after finding she had not established that it treated her less favourably or failed to provide reasonable accommodation. The decision was dated 11 October 2022.
The woman said a manager refused to serve her when she entered without a face covering and claimed a disability exemption. The shop said it offered to bring her shopping outside, let someone else shop for her or provide home delivery. The adjudicator preferred the shop witnesses’ evidence and noted that no medical evidence had been provided to the shop at the time to support the exemption claim.
