WRC declines jurisdiction over seven complaints by shuttering carpenter

The Workplace Relations Commission found it had no jurisdiction to hear seven complaints by shuttering carpenter Peter Coyle against CC Civil Contracts Limited because they were referred outside the statutory time limits. The decision was dated 20 March 2023; the merits were not decided. Coyle’s complaints concerned pay, sick-pay contributions, holiday entitlements and employment information. He sought an extension, citing the pandemic and an injury, but the adjudicator found he knew by June 2020 about the alleged failures and a possible WRC remedy. The respondent did not attend the hearing.
