The Workplace Relations Commission found Carmel Moore’s unpaid wages complaint well founded and awarded her €1,638.38 gross, subject to statutory deductions. It also found her entitled to a statutory redundancy payment, subject to her having been in insurable employment. The WRC decision, dated 17 December 2021, concerned her employment as a dental nurse with Doctor Fred Berndt - the estate of Dental Surgeon, whose surgery closed on 21 August 2019. Moore said she worked from 22 July to 21 August 2019 without being paid. The WRC found she had attended work and was not paid, and based the wages award on a gross weekly figure of €356.17 after finding no proof of the additional €50 she said she received each week in cash. It also found a redundancy situation because the business ceased trading. The redundancy entitlement was based on gross weekly pay of €536.17 and employment dates from 8 March 2008 to 21 August 2019.
WRC awards Carmel Moore €1,638.38 in unpaid wages and finds her entitled to redundancy payment
