WRC declines to recommend fast-tracking Health Services Manager’s job evaluation

The Workplace Relations Commission declined to recommend that Health Services fast-track a Manager’s job evaluation, finding it had no jurisdiction because the dispute concerned the pay of a group of workers. Adjudication Officer Brian Dalton dated the decision 30 November 2021; the merits were not decided. The worker argued that the delay was unfair because he was approaching retirement and the evaluation could affect his pension. Health Services said fast-tracking could undermine the collectively agreed job-evaluation process and affect other workers. The adjudicator found that a recommendation could affect a group of workers’ rates of pay and collective agreements. He therefore declined to make a recommendation.
