The Workplace Relations Commission found Adrian Caulfield’s disability discrimination complaint against Microfinance Ireland was not well founded. The decision, dated 30 November 2021, concerned his application for a €2,000 business loan for Working Holiday Ireland Limited.
Microfinance Ireland said the business’s turnover did not show sustainable cash flow or its ability to repay the loan. It also said it did not know the nature of Caulfield’s disability and that it had not affected the decision.
The WRC said it had no jurisdiction over the provider’s loan criteria and application process. The adjudication officer also found Caulfield had provided no evidence to support his discrimination assertion, and the complaint failed.
