WRC rejects Christopher Meja’s unfair-dismissal complaint

The Workplace Relations Commission rejected Christopher Meja’s unfair-dismissal complaint against Time Data Security Limited. The decision was dated 3 February 2022. The adjudicator found that the dismissal resulted from a genuine redundancy during pandemic-related cost cutting; nine roles were made redundant while 85 posts were retained. Meja argued that the company overlooked his automation-testing experience when selecting him for redundancy. The adjudicator found that a later advertised role required automation skills from the ground up and was different from Meja’s role.
