The Workplace Relations Commission found that Kiera Dunne Murphy’s pregnancy discrimination complaint against pharmacy operator Jabez Limited was not well founded. The decision was dated 12 January 2023.
Dunne Murphy said she was dismissed because she was pregnant and argued that her training on the Tosho medication system was inadequate. Jabez Limited said the dismissal followed performance concerns and that those involved did not know she was pregnant.
The adjudication officer found the employer was unaware of the pregnancy when it dismissed her and concluded that she had not shown she could use the system safely. The complaint under the Employment Equality Act was found not well founded.
