WRC awards Lorencsics Szilard €3,036 over unfair dismissal

The Workplace Relations Commission awarded Lorencsics Szilard €3,036 after finding his dismissal by Rosaderra Irish Meats unfair. The decision was dated 8 January 2025. Szilard alleged he was dismissed without a fair process. The employer said his prolonged absence and failure to engage led to his termination. The officer found that he did not attend scheduled absence reviews, but that the employer’s letters did not clearly set out disciplinary charges or a hearing and the dismissal process lacked transparency. The officer said the employer had not shown the dismissal was procedurally fair. The €3,036 compensation award reflected a 50% reduction for Szilard’s contribution to the dismissal.
