The Workplace Relations Commission had no jurisdiction to hear Ray Boyle’s unfair dismissal complaint against World 2000 Entertainment Limited because it found the company was not his employer. The decision, dated 19 February 2024, said Boyle was employed by Metropolitan Films International Limited and its subsidiaries; the merits were not decided. Boyle said he was not recalled for work on the production of Valhalla in December 2019 and believed this was because of his union membership. World 2000 argued he had worked for a separate production company and that his complaint was late. The adjudication officer found the complaint was within the time limit, but ruled she could not proceed against the named respondent.
