WRC has no jurisdiction over Garret Arkins’s unfair dismissal complaint

The Workplace Relations Commission had no jurisdiction to hear Garret Arkins’s unfair dismissal complaint against World 2000 Entertainment Limited, in a decision dated 19 February 2024. The adjudicator found that Arkins’s employer was Metropolitan Films International Limited and its subsidiaries, so the merits were not decided. Arkins said he was not recalled for a production starting in December 2019 and alleged unfair dismissal. He believed he had been blacklisted because of his Irish Film Workers’ Association membership. The adjudicator found the complaint was within the time limit but that the wrong respondent had been named.
