A film worker was awarded €5,979.20 after the Workplace Relations Commission found his written employment terms were deficient. The decision, dated 15 December 2023, also rejected his wages complaint and recorded that a separate working-time complaint was withdrawn.

Eddie Arkins Jnr said he had worked across film and television productions for about 11 years and was not called back for a new production. He believed this was because of his IFWA membership. Metropolitan Films International Limited argued that he had been employed by separate production companies and that his complaints were out of time. The officer found Metropolitan Films International Limited was his employer and that the complaints were submitted within the time limit.

The officer found the employment document gave the wrong employer name and address and an incorrect start date. The company was directed to pay compensation equivalent to four weeks’ pay. His wages complaint failed because wages were not considered payable while he was laid off and did no work. The Organisation of Working Time complaint was withdrawn.
