A cook’s Payment of Wages complaint over pay during an extended notice period was not upheld by the Workplace Relations Commission. The decision was dated 1 May 2019. The cook gave notice on 1 October 2018 and proposed to work until 11 November before returning to her home country. The catering company said it had not agreed to that date and told her the employment would end after the statutory notice period. The WRC found the company had made that clear promptly. She worked until 17 October and was paid for her work. The complaint was not upheld after the cook did not attend the hearing; the merits were not decided.
