Workplace Relations Commission ·

The WRC ordered a marketing company to pay an employee €1,500 in unpaid wages. The decision was dated 13 April 2018. The employee said she began work as an unpaid intern on the understanding that she would receive a monthly salary of €1,500 from 1 November 2017, plus €300 for travel expenses. Her contract ended on 20 November, but the salary was not paid. The company did not appear at the hearing. The adjudication officer found the account clear and well made and said the employee succeeded. The company was directed to pay the contracted €1,500 within 14 days of the decision.
