The WRC dismissed a project engineer’s redundancy complaint, finding he left his job voluntarily and was not made redundant. His separate wages complaint had been resolved before the hearing and was withdrawn. The decision was dated 21 August 2017. The worker accepted that a constructive-dismissal complaint would have been more appropriate. The engineering company said the redundancy claim was brought under the wrong legislation. The adjudication officer found the worker left employment of his own accord, so the redundancy complaint failed on its merits.
