The Workplace Relations Commission dismissed Olumide Smith’s complaint against The Court Service (An tSerirbhis Chuirteanna), finding it misconceived and outside its jurisdiction. The decision was dated 2 December 2021; the merits were not decided. Smith alleged that a judge subjected him to racist harassment, discrimination and victimisation by identifying him during court proceedings. The WRC found that judicial decision-making was not a service under the Equal Status Act and that it was immune from suit.
